You sought Sheila Dikshit’s resignation, now give yours: BJP to CM Arvind Kejriwal

BJP claimed that the AAP leader is resorting to petty politics by blaming the PM for the law and order situation.

Not amused by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal repeatedly mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi while lamenting the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital — in the wake of the murder of a 19-year-old in Central Delhi last week — the BJP on Tuesday demanded that the CM must tender his resignation over the incident.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay sought to remind Kejriwal that he had demanded then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s resignation after the heinous Delhi gangrape in December 2012. “Was he not aware at that time that Delhi Police comes under the Centre? Did he attack the PM then? No. So, going by his logic, we should demand his resignation or better, he should tender his resignation, taking moral responsibility for any crime against women in the capital,” said Upadhyay.

Upadhyay also asked the CM to order a magisterial probe into the death of AAP leader Santosh Koli, who died in 2013, purportedly from injuries suffered in a road accident. “There were reports that names of certain AAP members had surfaced in connection with Koli’s death. Why would you not order an inquiry,” questioned Upadhyay.

The BJP leader also pointed out that the Delhi Police was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and both Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh many times. “Why did they not name Rajnath Singh, why did they take the PM’s name,” he asked.

Upadhyay claimed that the AAP leader is resorting to petty politics by blaming the PM for the law and order situation. “If people don’t get seats in the bus, should they call Kejriwal? He has mastered the act of gaining from the politics of dead bodies. He gives compensation for cheap publicity and there is no standard for the compensation as well,” he said.
