Gaucho sale rumoured
Zeev Godik, co-founder of the Argentine-themed steak restaurant group Gaucho, is reported to have put the company up for sale.
The Sunday Times.
Godik and his private equity backer ICG are reported to be likely to ask for £140m to £150m for the restaurant chain. Canaccord declined to comment and ICG was not available for comment.
It is not known whether any deal would include Gaucho's sister brand Cau, which operates at a lower price point and has expanded more rapidly in recent years than the pricier Gaucho.
The news comes on the back of a series of deals, or rumours of deals, in the branded restaurant sector. Earlier this month, BC Partners bought restaurant chain Côte in a deal that valued the business at £250m, while the Casual Dining Group acquired Las Iguanas for £85m. Yo! Sushi and La Tasca are also rumoured to be up for sale.
