Maine State Music Theatre presents SHREK THE MUSICAL, JR., appearing on the MSMT stage August 17, 2015 at 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, and a special showing at 7:30 PM.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture, SHREK JR. is part romance and part twisted fairy tale and an irreverently fun show for the whole family.

In a faraway kingdom, the green ogre, Shrek, finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task - if he rescues feisty Princess Fiona from the Dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. But, this fairy tale wouldn't be complete without unexpected twists and turns along the way.

Led by returning MSMT Director/Choreographer Ray Dumont, the show is produced entirely by the 2015 MSMT Intern Company.

Local actor Matt West leads the cast as Shrek, accompanied by performance interns Reagan Danel Ogle as Fiona, DeAngelo Renard as Donkey, Stefanie Sable as Mama Bear/Duloc/Dragonette, Leah Nicoll as Wicked Witch/Dragonette, James Spencer Dean as Pinocchio, Jordan Lipes as Wolf/Thelonius/Knight/Duloc/Cow, and Sara Bond as Bishop/Duloc/Knight/Moon/Bluebird. Benjamin Henley, also a performance intern, is joined by locals Cameron Wright and Pablo Bajaras as the Three Little Pigs. Finally, locals round out the cast with Kenny Francoeur as Lord Farquad, Sarah Kennedy as Guard/Knight, and Michaelea Boisonneault as Gingy/Sugar Plum/Antelope/Dragonette.

The young ensemble is comprised of ten local child actors: Zoe Dinnerstein, Katie Boston, Samuel Allen, Cara Kennedy, Madeline Rancourt, Fiona Grace Edmonds, Sophia Hines, Genevieve Welch, Jane Lipp, and Kelsey Lemieux.
