MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - A rockslide following a weekend of rains has forced the closure of lanes of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s lt. John Lecrivain tells City News Service that a pair of large boulders fell on the highway Monday night.

He says firefighters arrived and pulled the boulders off the road, but then more rocks and debris started hitting the roadway.

Lecrivain says one lane of the highway is closed in both directions while state transportation workers assess the situation.

The partial closure is between Big Rock Canyon and Topanga Canyon Boulevard.
