It’s for a cause: JAC

July 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST

GVMC JAC convenor V.V. Vamana Rao said that the workers had taken up a citizens’ cause by demanding payment of salaries through the ‘010 account’, which would spare Rs. 340 crore for the city’s development.

The agitation should have been taken up by MLAs and MPs, but some of them were trying to dilute it, he alleged.

Even in the grant of Hudhud advance, the GVMC staff, who had worked to restore normalcy, were discriminated against and departments like Treasuries and Stamps and Registration were given the benefit, he said.

Leaders of unions that comprised the JAC vowed to continue the struggle till the demands were met.
