Construction worker found dead

The body of a 40-year-old construction worker was found in a mat at his work site in Kanathur on Monday afternoon. Police suspect he was beaten to death with an iron rod following an argument with his co-worker who is now absconding.

According to police sources, the victim Subash, a resident of Padappai, was involved in painting a newly-constructed building on Abdul Kalam 3{+r}{+d}Street in Kanathur, which belonged to one Govindarajan from T. Nagar. The site supervisor Karthik came to check on the construction work on Monday afternoon and found Subash’s body inside a mat. He alerted the police and a team from Kanathur came in and carried out preliminary probe. There were injury marks on Subash’s body, head and on the face. The previous night, Subash stayed at the site with his co-worker, who is now missing.

Therefore, it is suspected that the two had a tussle possibly in an inebriated state, sources added.
