A tribute to legendary music composer

The students and teachers of the Government Music School in the city paid rich tributes to legendary music composer M. S. Viswanathan by rendering the famous musical numbers scored by him and also conducting nagaswaram concert.

The students of the nagaswaram, thavil, vocal, bharathanatyam, thevaram, violin and mridangam courses along with the teachers paid floral tributes to the portrait of Viswanathan. Later, the students presented songs such as “Ullathil Nallai ullam ......... (Karnan), “Athisaya Raagam”..... (Aboorva Raagangal). The students of nagaswaram course presented nagaswaram concert.

Sollarasu, president of the Salem Uyirmey Sangam, presented a poem highlighting the achievements of late music director.

At a seminar that followed, B. Hemanathan, Assistant Director of Department of Art and Culture and S. Sankararaman, principal of the Government Music School spoke on the contributions made by the late Viswanathan for promoting art and culture.

Kuppurathinam Prabakar, president of the Parent-Teachers Association of the music school, presided over the event.
