Sadhvi says life under threat, seeks more police cover
NASHIK: Owing to threat perception from sadhus during Kumbh, controversial sadhvi Shri Trikalbhavanta Maharajha has sought armed security cover round-the-clock to guard her during her stay in Nashik for Kumbh.
The sadhvi has had run-ins with the sadhus and recognized akhadas over granting recognition to the all-woman akhada, which she has been heading. She has written to the city police seeking deployment of 23 policemen, including a commando and two armed personnel, to guard her and members of her group.

According to written request made by the sadhvi to the city police, the women akhada has expressed need of 10 men and 10 women police officials, two armed officials and one commando for her security considering threat to her life from the sadhus and akhadas.
Assistant police commisioner (special branch) Ravindra Wadekar said the request has been received, however, at present only one constable would be given to the sadhvi. “The proposal to approve the security for the sadhvi has been submitted and is likely to be approved by Tuesday,” he added.
Wadekar said the special branch would be providing security to mahants and upmahants. At present, the special branch has provided security to Mahants like Gyandas, Ayodhyas, Rajendradas, Ramkishoredas and Kishandas maharaj.
“The mahant would be given a police officer, who would function as the liaison officer too, while the upmahant would be provided with a constable,” he added.
The policemen would be provided to the akhadas according to the request. There are about 10,000 sadhvis expected to attend the Kumbh Mela. “The provision for additional security would be considered according to the need,” he said.
Sadhvi Shri Trikalbhavanta Maharaj said, “At present, a policemen and a policewomen has been provided. However, I have been assured that additional security, according to the request, would be placed after other sadhvis arrive for the Kumbh Mela.”
