No Karvan-e-Aman bus on account of Eid

Srinagar, Jul 20 (UNI) There will be no Karvan-e-Aman weekly cross Line of Control (LoC) bus today between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK) in the wake of the Eid-ul-Fitr. On account of Eid it was decided by India and Pakistan authorities to postpone the bus service, an official statement here said. The bus service has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947 to meet each since it was introduced on April 7,2005 despite opposition by militant organisations. However, only state subjects from both sides of the LoC, who had relations on either side of the border, could undertake the travel in the bus service on “Travel Permits” instead of International Passport. However, travel permit was being issued only after intelligence agencies from both the countries clear the name of a traveler. This is the sixth time the cross LoC could not operate this year. On January 26 the bus service was postponed on account of Republic Day, on February 2 after drugs were recovered from a PoK bus at Salamabad Uri, on March 2 it was cancelled due to landslides on other side of LoC, on March 23, following Pakistan Day and March 30 due to flood. So far 758 guests from PoK had arrived here to meet their relatives while 128 Kashmiris had crossed over to other side this year. UNI BAS ASM AE SK1348
