Opposition parties have criticised Chief Minister N. Rangasamy for skipping the NITI Aayog meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

Addressing presspersons here, AIADMK Legislature Party Deputy Leader A. Anbalagan said Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy had not evinced any interest to participate in the meeting and squandered the opportunity to oppose the anti-farmer land reform bill proposed by the BJP-led Government at the Centre as many other States had done. The AIADMK leader said Mr. Rangasamy should have participated and raised the issues such as Statehood and waiver of loans.

DMK State organiser (south) R. Siva also wanted the Chief Minister to explain the reason for not participating in the NITI Aayog meet.

Stating that the Union Territory should have cordial relations with Centre, Mr. Siva said the Chief Minister should have participated in the meeting and put forth long-pending demands.
