Hindu Munnani wants darshan fee in temples abolished

Hindu Munnani membersstaged a demonstration at four places in the district on Sunday demanding abolition of the special entrance fee charged at at temples across the State.

Ramagopalan, who led the agitation, said that the State Government should take immediate steps to stop collecting the fee from devotees who were actually contributing crores of rupees to the temple through the contributions made in the hundiyal.

He pointed out that fees were not collected in any of the temples in Kerala in the name of ‘special darshan’. Senior Hindu Munnani leaders Kishore Kumar, Annadurai and 'Kadeswara' Subramanian were among those who took part in the agitation.

More than 900 persons participated in the protest organised by Hindu Munnani at Gandhi Park in Coimbatore on Sunday. State organiser of the Munnani N. Muruganandham, state executive committee member Kishore Kumar and district president Dasaradhan took part.
