Vegetable cultivation at schools in Kallyasseri

: Vegetable cultivation will be started in all schools in the Kallyasseri Assembly constituency as part of the State Farmers’ Day events.

A meeting of school headmasters and agricultural officers in the constituency held here recently in the presence of T.V. Rajesh, MLA, finalised the project for implementing vegetable cultivation in all schools in the constituency, an official press release said. The project will be formally inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture K.P. Mohanan at the Madayi Boys Higher Secondary School on August 7.

Under the scheme, all the schools in the constituency, including LP and UP schools, will cultivate vegetables on 10-cent land each. The Agricultural Department will hand over a financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 to each school. Agricultural quiz will be held in all the schools on July 20 and a sub-district level quiz for winners will be held at Cherukunnu Girls Higher Secondary School on July 24, the release informed.
