Rains wash away part of check dam in Manesar
GURGAON: One of two check dams in Manesar, which were built last year, got damaged in some part as soon as monsoon hit. The village head complained that part of the dam was washed away as forest department failed to carry out compaction and pitching when it was being built.
The construction of the dam was a breather for the residents as it was a major effort to check the declining level of ground water.

“The water level is declining very fast in Manesar, just as in other parts of Gurgaon district. This is why, we have been requesting the forest department to build some water catchment area so that ground water recharge takes place regularly,” said KK Yadav, a resident of Manesar.
The Divisional forest Official Sunder Lal couldn't be contacted for a comment.
