Two youths were killed when their bike collided with a truck (HP-12-E-6087) near Dattowal village in Nalagarh this afternoon.
Ankit (22), who was riding the bike, was crushed by the truck while pillion rider Suresh Kumar, who received grievous injuries on his leg, succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the PGI, Chandigarh in a serious condition. The duo were returning from Nangal when the head-on collision took place. They were employees of Colgate Palmolive’s Jharmajri-based manufacturing plant.
Ankit hails from Hamirpur district while Suresh Kumar was a native of Bilaspur.
The DSP, Nalagarh, said a case of rash and negligent driving had been registered against the truck driver who fled the spot after the accident but his truck had been impounded and search was underway to trace him.
There appeared to be no let-up in cases of hit-and-run cases in the state’s industrial hub of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh where two-wheeler riders often became victims of rash and negligent driving by reckless truck drivers. — TNS
