Hyderabad: Doctor ends life, blames loan sharks & friend

The family said Dr Lakshminarayana burrowed Rs 2 lakh from Bikshamaiah and Krishnaiah
Hyderabad: An RMP doctor committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Thursday, allegedly due to pressure from private financiers. The police has booked a case. A suicide note was found in the shirt pocket of Dr Lakshminarayana. The note said that he was harassed by two financiers who had lent him money last year. The note said some people who borrowed money from him had not repaid him. It also said that he had given Rs 4 lakh to his friend as a loan.
Dr G. Lakshminarayana, 35, was a native of Vanasthalipuram and was practising as an RMP doctor in Maal village on the outskirts of Ranga Reddy district. He is the elder son of his family and is survived by his wife and two children, his mother, and a mentally retarded brother.
The family said Dr Lakshminarayana burrowed Rs 2 lakh from Bikshamaiah and Krishnaiah. He added Rs 2 lakh from his savings and gave Rs 4 lakh to his childhood friend Venkatesham as a loan. He paid the interest to the financiers on behalf on Venkatesham as Venkatesham never paid the interest.
He was over burdened by paying interests. Many times he requested his friend to pay the interest but it fell on deaf years. Meanwhile, his debtors started pressurising him to return the principal. Many times they came to his home and threatened him. Depressed, he decided to sell his 250 yard land in Gurramguda village. He gave the land documents to Venkatesham and requested him to sell the land and arrange the money. Venkatesham kept the documents with himself and started giving excuses about selling the land.
“On Thursday, he said he was going to meet a customer who was interested in buying the land. He went to the land at Gurramguda and committed suicide,” said Anjaiah, the deceased’s cousin.
In the suicide note, he said, “Venkatesham cheated me and he should be punished.” “We are investigating if pressure from financiers and delay from his friend were behind the suicide. We will take action based on facts,” said Vanasthali-puram inspector Pushpan Kumar. The financiers and Venkatesham are absconding.
