CM felicitates former Panchayat office-bearers, freedom fighters at Surat

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today called upon the representatives of Local Self-Government Institutions to rise above party politics and create a new working environment for the development of local areas and the state. She sought the guidance of the elders to ensure the fruits of development reached every home. She exhorted the youth to complete the incomplete works of the elders.

Mrs. Patel was speaking at a function to felicitate former presidents, office-bearers and members of Surat District Panchayat, ex-MPs, ex-MLAs, prominent citizens, philanthropists, centenarians and freedom fighters at the Convention Hall at Sarsana in Surat.

Prominent among them included ex-MP Mansingbhai Patel, ex-District Panchayat President Sahdsevbhai Choudhry, who ruled for 17 years, ex-Panchayat member Navinbhai Patel. She honoured Maheshbhai Tailor of Kosamba with shawl and memento for donating blood 198 times which is the second highest world record.

She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the Chief Minister when Gujarat celebrated the golden jubilee of its foundation in 2015, he had invited all the former chief ministers on one platform. All people working for the development of the state are worthy of felicitation.

She recalled that Panchayati Raj was set up on April 1, 1963 on the recommendation of Rasikbhai Parikh Committee Report submitted in 1961. Since then the State Government started giving grants to district, taluka and village panchayats for development works, which resulted in the uplift of the villages and villagers.

She remembered the contributions of the late Jugatram Dave of Vedchhi village in the field of education which led to educated villagers joining politics and changing face of the villages.

Mrs. Patel said the State Government should be humane first. The Health Department is providing free treatment of clefts lips and nose, diabetes, blood pressure, cataract operation, screening of breast and cervical cancer. She asked the people’s representatives to spread the government’s welfare message to every home.

She had a word of praise for the people’s representatives of Surat which was declared as the Best District thrice. The government is performing medical checkup of 45 lakh anganwadi kids in the state, 1.80-lakh belonged to Surat alone.

She greeted the people on the occasion of Asadhi Bij New Year for the Kuchchi, Jagannath Rathyatra and Ramzan Eid yesterday.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ganpatsinh Vasava said the felicitation of people who are the pillars of Gujarat is a matter of pride for the state. He praised the State Government’s mega events like Garib Kalyan Mela, World Yoga Day, Vanthali Vikas Yatra and Clean Gujarat Campaign.

Surat District Panchayat President Ashwinbhai Patel earlier welcomed the guests.

CM opens Katargam Zonal Office of Surat Municipal Corporation

Zonal Office of Surat Municipal Corporation to the people for speedy implementation of the State Government’s people-oriented works.

Speaking on the occasion, she said the objective is to provide timely information to the public about their rights and responsibilities. She said the rules and formats of application forms have been simplified to make the administration move fast. Other measures include self-attestation of copies of documents with the onus of veracity on the citizen, with no need for repeated certificates and affidavits, either.

CM lays the stone of Rs.31.80-cr SUDA Bhavan

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today performed the ground breaking ceremony of the Rs.31.80-crore Green Building of SUDA at Vesu in Surat, and also that of Rs.288-crore high-rise residential units.
