Carlos Tevez 's second spell at Boca Juniors began with a victory as he made his debut in a 2-1 win over Quilmes.

The Argentine, who played for Boca between 2001 and 2004, was given a raucous reception on his first appearance for the club at La Bombonera in 12 years.

Tevez, 31, played in his usual industrial style, but didn't have a huge influence on proceedings as his limelight was stolen by the scorer of the winning goal.

Sebastian Palacios had given Boca a first-half lead before what turned out to be the winner was scored in audacious fashion by Jonathan Calleri.

The 21-year-old, who has been watched by Stoke City, produced a wonderful rabona to give Boca a 2-0 lead going into the interval.

Alexis Canello of Quilmes halved the deficit in the second-half but it would prove to be a happy ending to a rare, romantic football story for Tevez.

The former Manchester United and City forward scored 29 goals for Juventus last season and had the chance to remain playing at the top level in Europe for the foreseeable future.

However, he decided against going down such a path and instead opted for a return to the club he joined as a schoolboy .
