MANGALURU: Saturday was picture-perfect for this busy doctor. As someone who is constantly held up at work, Yusuf A Kumble, chief interventional cardiologist and founder-chairman of Indiana Hospital and Heart institute, hardly gets an opportunity to spend quality time with his family.
Eid-ul-Fitr on a Saturday came as a blessing, as it doled out wonderful memories that Kumble will reminisce in days to come.

Relishing his favourite dishes - the lip-smacking mutton biriyani, bheja fry and the scrumptious North Malabar chicken delicacies - with his family is indeed a dream come true for Dr Kumble.
The ever-busy cardiologist has conducted more than 10,000 radial angioplasty procedures. He shared his happiness with his 90-year-old mother Beefathima and his sons Nifson Yusuf and Naved Yusuf.
Eid celebrations combined prayers and wishes at 'Aramanayil', the ancestral house of Kumble's late father Haji K Baduvan Kunhi at Arikkady in Kumble. Pioneer in radial intervention and one who has implanted more than 5,000 stents, the 48-year-old cardiologist found happiness in celebrating the festival with his loved ones at Aramanayil.
"Normally, my hectic day starts with a namaz at 5.30am for I have to reach hospital sharp at 8.30am. I reach home back after consultations and surgeries at around 9pm. My Eid celebrations today started with namaz at Arikkady Juma Masjid, which is close to our house, and later distribution of zakath.

Conveying Eid messages to loved ones make us feel homely," he told TOI.
"Having food with my mother, wife, children, uncle and relatives on a special day like this is indeed a blessing. Chicken delicacies, especially fries of North Malabar cuisine, are our food of choice," said Dr Kumble.
He graduated from Calicut Medical College in 1991, pursued MD Medicine from Karnataka Medical College, Hubballi in 1995, and later completed DNB cardio from Railway Hospital Chennai in 1999 and DM cardiology from AIIMS, New Delhi, in 2002. In addition, Dr Kumble is also a fellow of European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and fellow of Society of Cardiovascular Angiogram and Intervention (SCAI).
