Yash's Gajakessari changed Amulya's life

The actress says that she is trying to keep up with trends to look glamorous
Yash's Gajakessari changed Amulya's life
Amulya has come a long way in her nearly decade-long journey in the film industry. She shed her cute bubbly image from her debut film Cheluvina Chittara and is now in an all-new glam avatar. As she prepares for the release of her upcoming film with Prem, Male, the actress tell us how she makes an effort to not be repetitive, even though she does nearly four films a year. Excerpts…
Turning on the melodrama I play a typical bajari character in Male, and am seen scolding and shouting at everyone throughout the movie.
People are likely to draw parallels between my character in Male and the kinds that yesteryear actress Manjula often played. I yell so much in the movie that I couldn’t dub for more than 2-3 scenes at a go, as my voice would begin to crack. The acting is melodramatic and not natural, so that was a little bit of a challenge.
Film team’s tryst with rain Almost every time we were at an outdoor location to shoot, it would invariably end up raining, so much so that we had to pack up early very often. This happened more so in Sakleshpur. Since the movie is called Male (rain), we used to joke that navu kaal itwi, male bantu (it would start raining as soon as the Male team set foot somewhere).
Prem as a co-star Prem is, first of all, a very good human being. He is also a very good co-star. Being a senior actor, he was completely involved in the entire shoot process. He used to concentrate on my performance and then think about what counter his character has to give. It was really nice to work with him.
Keeping up with trends I’ve been in the industry for 7-8 years, so my look has to keep changing. I know that if I look the same in all my movies, audiences will get bored. I keep that in mind when selecting roles. In Ramleela, I am an out-and-out modern woman, in Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole, I am a tomboy, and in Mava I Love You, I am a village belle. So, even if I am doing four movies in a year, there will be change in each of them.
The impact of Gajakessari My outlook towards my appearance changed with Gajakessari. I never expected anyone to see me in that kind of a role, but the makers worked so hard in ensuring that I was projected a certain way and took so much interest in my career that I felt that I have to also do the same. So, I changed my hairstyle, wardrobe, makeup and everything else. My look now keeps changing according to trends and I take personal interest in the outfits that I wear in my movies. I am completely into personal grooming now.
