BJP leaders asked to speed up drive to bond with new members
Guwahati: BJP’s central leaders have asked its state counterparts to speed up Maha Sampark Abhiyan (MSA) drive to build rapport with 25 lakh-odd new members in the state and inculcate party ideology in them to turn them into a pool of active party activists in the run-up to the assembly polls.
A recent review of MSA in the northeast revealed that the drive covered over 1.5 lakh of 25 lakh new members in the state.
BJP national president Amit Shah, 18 party central leaders and Union ministers met party leaders and workers from seven NE states.
Ways to take forward the initiative were discussed at length in the meeting and state leaders were asked to groom the new members in BJP’s ideology and train them to carry on party’s activities.
Earlier, some state leaders had said almost 60% of the new members were covered under the MSA. But central party leaders asserted that MSA was not meant to make contacts with new members, rather, they should be groomed properly so that they become the party’s torchbearers.
“I think it’s a big achievement on part of BJP to have 25 lakh members in one year. It has opened up prospects for further strengthening the party support base in the state. So, the drive must gain speed by putting in more energies,” a senior BJP central
The 25 lakh-odd members joined BJP after the party launched its miss call membership drive last year.
“We have the entire list of addresses of the 25 lakh members. Now we have to work against time to reach out to each and every member. Our national president has specifically given utmost thrust on MSA, and we have to accomplish this task,” a state BJP leader said.
