Youth escapes unhurt in gas cylinder blast

MUMBAI: A young member of the Dixit family escaped unhurt in Thursday’s gas cylinder blast in a Santacruz (E) chawl.
Minutes after Pritesh Dixit (20) stepped out of his ground-plus-one accommodation, the cylinder exploded. His mother Shobha (35) is undergoing treatment for minor burns while the condition of his aunt Sailkumari (40), according to Vakola police, was stable with 90% burns.
Pritesh and his relatives performed the final rites of the four victims—his father Kapildev (40), uncle Rajdev (50), and two cousins Rajendra (20) and Yashwant (17) — on Friday.
