Pratyusha’s father nabbed

July 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

After being elusive for a week, C. Ramesh, Pratyusha’s father, was caught by the L.B. Nagar police on Thursday. The man was wanted by the police on charge of attempting to kill his 19-year-old daughter. His wife Shyamala, who partnered the crime, was arrested by the police.

The L.B. Nagar police, along with an NGO, rescued the girl from a house at Fatelaguda last Wednesday, following information about a woman being confined and tortured. After her rescue, Pratyusha charged her parents with physically torturing her and forcing her to drink toilet cleaner. She also alleged that her father and stepmother beat her up and branded her with hot objects.

“He switched off his mobile phone to avoid getting tracked. However, we arrested him from a house at Bowenpally and produced him before court, which remanded him,” L.B. Nagar Inspector E. Srinivas Reddy said. Ramesh told the police that he had never tortured the girl.
