Pestered for sex by her brother-in-law, 23-yr-old hangs self

ULHASNAGAR: A 23-year-old woman, who was being harassed for sex allegedly by her brother-in-law, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house in Ulhasnagar on Thursday. The woman had got married three months ago.
The police said that the woman, Kalpana Bangar, mentioned about the sexual harassment in her suicide note. Her brother-in-law Santosh Bangar (32), a two-time divorcee, has been booked.Also, her husband Dinkar (25) has been charged for not supporting her despite being informed of the harassment. “The suicide note mentions that when she informed the husband, he told her that she should brush her squeamishness aside,” said an officer, adding that a manhunt is on for the absconding brothers.
Kalpana then called up her father, Devram Rurandher, on Thursday and informed him about what was going on. However, she was dead before he could reach the daughter’s home.
“We have booked the two men,” said an official from Vithalwadi police station.
