A good diet is a must for good sex. Follow these tips for a great sex life. NutritionistKarishma Chawla says that apart from a positive self image and lots of exercise coupled with recovery time, a good diet and hydration are required for a healthy sex life.
“Have diet rich in complex carbohydrates, lean protein, low in saturated fats and essential fatty acids,” she says.
Chawla suggests including complex carbohydrates like whole wheat, quinoa, oats, jowar, bajra, lean proteins like low fat milk and milk products, chicken, fish, egg whites and lean meat like chicken and fish, egg whites, low fat milk and milk products. Olive, rice bran and groundnut oil will bring in the oil while fish oil caps, flaxseeds, walnuts, avocados and olive oil will provide the Omega-3 fatty acids.
Must-eat foods for a good sex life:
Zinc-rich foods help in testosterone production and in maintain female hormone balance. The best sources are sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, poultry, cashews, almonds, chickpeas, yogurt and mushrooms. Nutrients like ginseng and saw palmetto are beneficial too. “Eat a lot of fruits, veggies and complex carbohydrates to fill up the fibre need and eat yogurt as it is a probiotic,” she says. Strength training like weight training helps increase Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), keeping the body fat percentage in check which is necessary for hormonal health.

Foods to avoid:
Stay away from refined flours, sugars and fried foods, which upset the hormones needed for overall well-being and sexual health. ​Alcohol impairs performance​ and depletes nutrients. Another libido killer is unmanaged stress. “Follow the principals of optimal health along with spiritual health to keep emotional stability in relationships,” says Chawla.
