Shivangi’s onscreen character inspired by Manisha’s in Lajja

Shivangi Joshi, who plays Poonam in Begusarai, has been watching Lajja on repeat mode. Reason? Her character in the show is inspired by Manisha Koirala’s role — Vaidehi.

Says Shivangi, “After Poonam marries the guy she is not too fond of, her characteristics undergo a drastic change. From this simple, timid girl, she becomes someone who fights for her rights. She wants to take charge of her life, and gives it back to those who have done her wrong.This phase of her character is inspired by the role that Manisha played in Lajja. I’ve seen the movie, and I really liked her guts. I’ve been trying to imbibe her attitude in the show.” Interestingly, her character during the start of the show was modelled after Bhagyashree’s Suman in Maine Pyar Kiya.
