Gujarat CM announces reward for primary school performance

Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today announced cash prizes for the taluka teams that ensures ‘A’ and ‘A+’ grades for all the primary schools in that particular taluka from the next year as part of the Gunotsav Abhiyan for qualitative improvement in primary schools in Gujarat,

Addressing a conference of the State Primary Education Department attended by over 720 Block Resource Coordinators (BRC) at Mahatma Mandir here, she said the taluka primary education officer and block resource coordinators of the winning ‘A’ and ‘A+’ teams will get Rs.20,000 each, education inspectors Rs.15,000 each, block resource persons Rs.10,000 each and CRC will get consolation prize of Rs.10,000. The State Government will give citation to principals and teachers of such schools.

The Chief Minister said the state has a huge resource base of BRCs which could do wonders by reaching each and every home, even in the remotest areas. The resource persons must make process of teaching simple and interesting, encouraging children to go to schools, increasing their memory power, participating in games and sports, drawing and poetry competitions – for all round development of the child. She admitted creating interest in arithmetic is one of the most difficult tasks for teachers. The interest has to be perhaps created from angnawadi stage itself.

She asked the ministers and bureaucrats, who had visited particular during Shala Praveshotsav for enrolling students in schools, should visit the same schools again for progress report as part of the Gunotsav Abhiyan.

Mrs. Patel invited retired primary teachers, sakhi mandals, mahila suraksha samitis and the entire society to join Gujarat’s Gunotsav Abhiyan for improving the quality of education.

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma stressed on the need for improving the quality of teachers for qualitative improvement in the field of education, taking the help of computer technology and smart learning.

Those present on at the meeting included Primary Education Minister Nanubhai Vanani, Additional Chief Secretary for Education Sujit Gulati and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Director Mukesh Kumar.
