Louis van Gaal has told MUTV that Manchester United’s summer spending spree is "not finished yet".

The Reds’ manager admitted his side "still need to strengthen in two positions" despite the purchase of four players since the end of last season.

Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger are the latest recruits to Old Trafford.

And Van Gaal said in the TV interview: “We need a balance in selection and I think we still need to improve at least two positions and we shall do that when it is possible.

"But we shall only buy when the player can give a contribution to our level. And, of course, that is in the eyes of our staff but I have to have confidence that he can cope with the rhythm of the Premier League."
