15-year-old with learning disability prepares for Special Olympics

The 15-year-old Mohammed Fardeen is busy refining his skills under his trainer and physical education teacher Narayan Sherrigar at his school grounds.

This student from St. Agnes Special School will be leaving for Los Angles on July 21 to take part in the Special Olympics.

Mr. Fardeen, who has learning disability, is the only player from Karnataka to be part of the Indian Football team that will be playing matches in the grounds of the University of California from July 28.

On Friday, the State Bank of India presented him with cheque of Rs. 1 lakh for the expenses for taking part in the Special Olympics.

SBI’s Chief General Manager (Karnataka Circle) Rajani Mishra called on the boy from Bengaluru and wished him good luck. The bank is willing provide financial assistance to needy persons from the Corporate Social Responsibility funds.

The cheque was presented by SBI Regional Manager Khadri Gundu Rao. He also presented the boy with Bank’s Vishwa Yatra Card.
