Dashrath Manjhi did carved a mountain in real life and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is emulating the same for the reel adaptation nased on the life of the 'Mountain Man'.
Nawazuddin has in the past shared that he admires the kind of work going on in Marathi films and like Umesh and Girish Kulkarni's work. While the possibility of him doing a Marathi film might not turn into reality soon, his next film 'Manjhi' does have a Marathi connection in Radhika Apte.
Radhika has been on a roll this year bagging Hindi films one after the other and also doing theatre and TV. In Ketan Mehta's 'Manjhi', she plays the role of Nawaz's character's wife.

The story revolves is based on a real incident wherein a man named Dashrath Manjhi single-handedly carved through a mountain in order to make a safe passage for his villagers who otherwise had to walk a long distance to get to the other side of the mountain. The feat earned him the nickname Mountain Man. In the film, Manjhi's wife falls off the mountain and Manjhi, driven by revenge and love, carved across the mountain alone and with only the help of a chisel and hammer.
Radhika was earlier seen in the Varun Dhawan starrer 'Badlapur' and opposite Gulshan Devaiah in 'Hunterrr'. Interestingly, one of Radhika's co-star from 'Badlapur', Huma Qureshi, is going the other way round and will soon be seen in a Marathi film 'Highway'.
