Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suresh C. Angadi, MP, has said that green flags hoisted atop of mosques are an “expression of pro-Pakistan affiliation”.

He said a green flag was hoisted atop a mosque in Gokak and asked the police to remove all green flags atop all mosques. He had also informed the top officials.

The immediate reason behind his outburst was a sudden protest staged by activists of various Hindu organisations against his alleged failure to come to the rescue of Hindu youth arrested and harassed by the city police in connection with the communal violence in Old Gandhinagar locality in the city recently.

The activists, including those from Sri Ram Sene, pointed out that Congress MLA from Belagavi North Feroz N. Sait along with police officials rushed to the scene of violence without losing time to protect the members of community, while Mr.Angadi failed to show similar concern towards Hindus.

Mr. Angadi said the incident was communalised, although it was just a quarrel between young boys playing cricket.
