July 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CHITTOOR:

Revenue Divisional Officer (Chittoor) Penchala Kishore has said that over 200 posts of Village Revenue Officers (VROs) is lying vacant in the Chittoor division, adding that the issue had been brought to the notice of District Collector Siddarth Jain.

Mr. Kishore said: “Apart from shortage of VROs, workload has increased at the mandal level, with one Tehsildar given additional charge of other mandals.” He added that transfers and new postings would be effected after the Godavari Pushkarams.

Urging the people to utilise services at MeeSeva centres, Mr. Kishore said: “The objective setting up MeeSeva centres is to curb corruption. Visiting offices for matters that can be taken up at MeeSeva centres will only encourage middlemen.”
