Protesters block rail services

Srinagar, July 16: Baramulla-Qazigund rail service came to a halt today after locals in Gulzarpora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district held a protest against lack of electricity.
The residents of Gulzarpora said they are without electricity from past one month and they are facing extreme problems due to non-availability of electricity.
The protesters blocked the rail services for an hour causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers including students and employees.
Meanwhile, top police officials reached on the spot and assured the protesters that their issue would be taken up with higher ups for quick redressal.
Following police assurance, the protesters called off their two hour long protest and dispersed peacefully. The train services were also restored later.
