Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Thursday said he was satisfied with how his party dealt with the recent controversies surrounding former IPL chief Lalit Modi and the Vyapam scam.
“I am a party man and for that reason I am satisfied. From whatever I have come to know from TV reports, it is being properly dealt with,” he said on the sidelines of a function to inaugurate a 100-bed hostel at the Sports Authority of India’s centre here. He was replying to a query whether the recent controversies — one involving Lalit Modi, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, and the other over Vyapam deaths — have dented BJP’s image. He said: “It is is being dealt by those who should deal with it. I do not have any opinion of mine. The party’s opinion is my opinion.”

Advani, Gandhinagar MP and member of BJP’s margdarshak committee, attended the function along with Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sabarnanda Sonowal and Gujarat sports minister Nanu Vanani. In his address at the sports complex, the former deputy PM said: “Facilities like this — elite hostels — will help provide the required platform to sportspersons.”
Sonowal said the government has already started preparations to help Indian athletes win at least “10 gold medals” in the next Olympics. “We have also appealed to the corporate to pitch in. There has been a good response from the Gujarat Inc.”
