RWE Innogy has awarded cable repair services contract for Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm to Offshore Marine Management (OMM). The German renewable energy project developer has handed contract for the 295-megawatt project to the UK-based offshore cable installation company for five years.

RWE is the operator of the Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm and is also the maintenance contractor for the next 20 years.

The deal includes an option for maintenance services for the wind farm, located off the Heligoland coast in North Sea.

OMM will deliver both structural and subsea services of the inter-array cables that connect the turbines and the substation. It will be maintaining about 60km of cable with operations based out of its Hamburg office and UK head office in Cambridge.

The services OMM is to offer include inter-array cable procedures, technical support, fault detection, emergency action responses, and repair.

Nordsee Ost wind park is located about 35 kilometers to the northeast of Helgoland Island in the German North Sea. The project generates adequate energy to power 320,000 households annually.

The wind farm has 48 turbines that are spread out on roughly 24 square kilometers and stand on water that is 25 meters deep on average.
