Police in Lethbridge are investigating a report that a man was assaulted and forced into a vehicle at Henderson Lake on Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the lake at about 10:44 p.m. after a man reported what appeared to be an assault and abduction.

Police say the witness walked past a male sitting on a bench near the cannon on the east side of the lake and saw the man get up and approach three other males.

He told police that the man from the bench hit one of the other males and a physical altercation began. The victim was then hit several more times before he was grabbed by the man from the bench and forced into a black pick-up truck.

One of the other men then got into the truck and left the scene driving southbound on East Parkside Drive.

The man from the bench got into an orange car and the third man from the group got into a small silver car and both vehicles followed the truck south on East Parkside Drive.
