Sanathana Sampradaaya Sangeetha Bharati and Nadabharati organised a veena recital by Kaza Subhashini at Saptaparni in memory of Vasa Krishnamurthy.

Subhashini opened her concert with Lambodara in Kambhoji, then played Mukhari for a while and presented the composition of Thyagaraja, Enthani Ne Varninthu skilfully applying right strings for sahitya appeal. This was followed by another composition of Thyagaraja Sarasa Samadana in Kapinarayani. Both were simple kirtana presentations. Subhashini then chose Hindolam for Annamacharya’s Deva Devam Bhaje . The raga presentation was neat with well-built phrases.

Makelara Vicharamu in Ravichandrika was another soothing kriti she presented sans any decoration but concentrating on its Sahitya appeal. Srikanthimathim in Hymavathi followed. she then chose to present was a vilamba kala kirtana set in aditalam. ‘Vaadaligithe’ , a Kshetrayya padam in Hussaini that she played with concentration on its sahitya appeal was well received. This was followed by main composition of the concert ‘Sarojadalanetri’ in Sankarabharanam. This was Syama Sastry’s number and Subhashini displayed perfection and care in evolving the raga first with apt use of meends with delicate touches. The raga shaped up so well that it impacted the kirtana while retaining its devotional appeal. The tanam that she played after the raga essay sounded pleasing. The kirtana Sarojadala Netri was strengthened with the presentation of neraval and kalpanaswaras. The tani avartanam at this stage by Srinivasa Gopalan was quite engaging. His support throughout the concert was even.

Later part of the concert featured Jagadodharana in Kapi. It was indeed a true tribute to Vasa Krishnamurthy.
