Robinho has signed for Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande on a six-month contract.

The 31-year-old links up with former Brazil coach Luis Felipe Scolari who signed a two-and-a-half-year managerial contract in June.

Robinho, who previously enjoyed spells at Manchester City, Real Madrid and AC Milan, has been without a club following his release from Brazilian side Santos.

City paid Real Madrid £33m to bring Robinho to the Premier League in 2008, but the Brazilian forward failed to justify that price tag, scoring just 14 goals before being loaned back to Santos.

A statement on Guangzhou’s website read: "July 16, 2015 in the afternoon, Guangzhou Evergrande Football Club officially announced Brazilian striker Robson de Souza (Robinho) formally signed.

"Robinho joined on a free contract for a period of six months. After the expiration of the contract the club have a priority right of renewal.”

The deal will be completed pending a medical due to be carried out on July 20 and Robinho will be handed the No 60 shirt.

Guangzhou are the four-time reigning champions of the Chinese Super League and have invested heavily in foreign imports in recent years.

Robinho joins compatriot Paulinho who arrived at the 2013 AFC Champions League winners from Tottenham for a reported fee of around £10m.
