AICC general secretary and former Union Minister for State V. Narayanasamy on Sunday claimed that the Lieutenant Governor A.K. Singh had disapproved of a Government proposal to distribute free mixers and grinders.

Greeting the new Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president A. Namassivayam who met him at his residence on Sunday, Mr. Narayanasamy said Chief Minister N. Rangasamy had attempted to distribute freebies and sent a file to the Lieutenant Governor.

Financial crisis

But according to information available with him the file was returned in the wake of the serious financial crisis the Government was facing, he claimed.

Mr. Narayanasamy said the Puducherry Government was facing a serious financial crisis and several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have not been able to disburse even wages to the employees for the last 27 months.

But the people are not ready to believe Mr. Rangasamy as they are convinced of the incapability of the government.

The ruling AINRC government had not done anything to augment the welfare of the people. But in a bid to hoodwink the people the Chief Minister had announced several freebies with an eye on the Assembly elections in 2016.

He said that the AICC was mulling disciplinary action against Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament P. Kannan for not working for the Congress candidate during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The Union Territory would have Congress rule under the leadership of Mr. Namassivayam in 2016, he said.

Corruption

The ruling BJP led Government at the Centre was steeped in corruption and the Congress will not allow Parliament to function till the four BJP ministers step down, he alleged.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president A. Namassivayam accused the ruling AINRC government of pulling the Union Territory’s development backwards by 10 years.
