Patwari, SI in Lokayukta net for taking bribe

In two separate incidents, two government officials were caught on Wednesday by lokayukta police in Jabalpur and Rewa districts while taking bribe. A patwari was caught taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer in Rewa district.

BHOPAL: In two separate incidents, two government officials were caught on Wednesday by lokayukta police in Jabalpur and Rewa districts while taking bribe. A patwari was caught taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer in Rewa district. The official Rajmani Kushwaha, sought a bribe of Rs 18,000 from one Vedmani Pandey whose ancestral land was to be divided among his three brothers.

Pandey complained with lokayukta police and a trap was laid wherein accused was arrested while taking Rs 5000. This Rs 5000, was the first instalment of the total bribe, said lokayukta sources. "He has been booked under prevention of corruption Act after he was caught taking the bribe," SP Lokayukta Rewa, P K Vidyarthi told TOI.
In another incident, a SI Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, posted at Madan Mahal police station in Jabalpur was arrested while taking bribe of Rs 5,000. Accused sought bribe from Radhey Shayam Swami, a resident of Vijay Nagar area , for settling a plaint of abetment to murder against him.
