Woman, 18-year-old daughter ‘assaulted’ in Kutch Express, 2 RPF constables booked

The girl called up her brother and told him about the incident, after which he approached Navsari Railway police and informed the officials.

A case has been registered with the GRP against two Railway Protection Force (RPF) constables for allegedly assaulting a 18-year-old girl and her mother travelling in the parcel bogie of Kutch Express train on Tuesday night.

According to the complaint, the two victim, resident of Ashokwan society in Navsari, went to Valsad to meet a doctor to consult skin related problem of 18-year-old girl.

After finishing the work, they were on their way home in the parcel bogie as there was a huge rush in the general coaches of Kutch Express train coming from Mumbai and to Ahmedabad.

Reportedly, RPF constables Yashraj Singh and Jaspal Singh were on their surveillance duty in the train from Mumbai. They allegedly sexually harassed the two victims on the way between Valsad and Navsari. However, the other passengers, where were travelling in the same bogie, had escaped before the two constables arrived.

The girl called up her brother and told him about the incident, after which he approached Navsari Railway police and informed the officials.

As soon as the Kutch Express train reached the Navsari Railway station, a GRP team went the parcel bogie and questioned both the RPF constables about the incident. The two allegedly threatened the GRP officials and escaped from the spot. Later, the 18-year-old girl lodged a complaint with GRP police in Navsari.

GRP Police Sub-Inspector I V Patel said, “We have registered an offence on the bases of allegations made by both the mother and her daughter against the two RPF constables. Both the constables have been posted in Mumbai RPF office.”
