MANGALURU: Department of Kannada and culture, alongside other literary academies, will host 'Sangama Sambhrama 2015' at Dr Shivaram Karanth Pilikula in Nisargadhama from July 25.
The two-day event will be organized under the theme 'Tribulations Of The Present: Cultural Reactions.' B A Mohammad Hanief, president, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, said that all relevant academies, the book authority and Kanakadasa Study Centre had organized a similar bash titled 'Vasantha Sambhrama' in Bengaluru last year.
"This time, the event will be held in coastal Karnataka and will aim to highlight the variety and diversity of Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Beary, Kodava, Urdu, and Arebashe languages and their inherent culture and tradition," he said.
Roy Castelino, president, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, said that presidents and members of all 13 academies in the state, including Kannada Book Authority, Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati, National Kanakadasa Study Centre, linguists, scholars and other stake holders will participate in the two-day programme.
The inaugural will also see cultural troupes take part in a grand cultural procession to showcase the cultural grandeur of each language.
The cynosure of the programme will be the open discussion, which will see participation from academy heads and 65 scholars, five each from the 13 academies, Castelino said. The principal secretary of the department, minister for Kannada and culture Umashree, and director K A Dayanand and other senior officials will be present.
They will address queries, doubts and discuss suggestions that the scholars may have for the better functioning of the academies.

As a precursor to the main event, a three-day arts and artisan camp will be organized. Tulu Aisiri, Konkani Sambram and Pernal Sandol will reflect the grandeur of Tulu, Konkani and Beary languages.
Books celebrating the life and achievements of poet and reformer Sant Kanakadasa will be released in Tulu, Konkani and Beary languages on July 24. A food fest will also be organized.
Noting that the academies want to bring about a festive atmosphere to the Pilikula premises starting July 22, Hanief said that the organizers will allow those interested in setting up stalls for eateries, dress material, handicrafts and other items at the venue. Contact 9686673237 or 9739789770.
