Pradhan runs over tractor on man in land dispute

VARANASI: In a sensational incident, pradhan (head) of Gopalpur village in Ghazipur district Ramdular Yadav ran his tractor over Triloki Nath Pandey (60) in a land dispute on Tuesday, killing him on the spot. Yadav is absconding.
According to police, Yadav had purchased a land from Triloki in the name of his wife eight years back. But during the process of chakbandi (consolidation), the land was transferred in the account of some other person.After it, Yadav started pressurizing Triloki to give the plot located near his residence to him (Yadav).
When Yadav started bid to capture the plot, Triloki took shelter of consolidation court. During inspection of disputed land, the officials of land consolidation department instructed both groups not to plough the land until the dispute is settled. But, overlooking it, Yadav reached the plot with his accomplices on a tractor to plough it.
Triloki came in front of the tractor. On seeking it Yadav moved the tractor ahead to crush Triloki and ran it over the latter repeatedly. After becoming sure that Triloki had died, the gram pradhan fled with the tractor.
A named FIR had been lodged against Yadav and his accomplices with Birno police.
