Plea to remove oleander

July 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - MADURAI:

A public interest litigation petition has

been filed in the Madras High Court Bench here seeking a direction to the National Highways Authority of India

(NHAI) to order removal

of toxic oleander plants from the medians on four lane highways.

K. Safar Badhusha (54), a lawyer practising in the High Court Bench here, had filed the PIL petition by relying upon various scientific reports to prove the toxic nature of oleander. He claimed that a representation made by him to the NHAI on February 3 went unheard.
