Bengaluru: School founder hacked to death

Police have identified the deceased as K.N. Rao, a resident of Marappa Layout

BENGALURU: A 42-year-old school founder was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified men in Avalahalli in Hoskote on the city’s outskirts late Monday night. His body was found inside his car on Tuesday morning by his wife.

Police have identified the deceased as K.N. Rao, a resident of Marappa Layout in Avalahalli and hailing from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. He was earlier working with Narayana Olympiad School in Hoskote and had started his own school around two years ago. He is survived by his wife and an eight-year-old daughter.

According to the police, the murder came to light on Tuesday morning after the Rao’s wife noticed her husband’s car parked at an open space outside their house, with the driver’s seat door ajar. When she went to check, she was shocked to see the body of her husband lying in a pool of blood. She immediately informed the police who rushed to the spot along with dog squad and finger print experts.

“The victim was hit from behind. The body had injury marks on the back and head. The assailants had attacked the victim with a blunt object near his home. The police are on the look out for assailants and will also verify the CDR to see the calls made to the victim,” said B. Ramesh, Superintendent of Police Bengaluru Rural district.

During investigation, Rao’s wife told police that he had left for work as usual on Monday. Around 8.45 pm when she called her husband to know when he would be back, he had allegedly told her that he was in Mandur and would be reaching home soon. After waiting for sometime, she took her medicine and slept and woke-up only in the morning. She felt shocked when she didn’t find her husband home.

She immediately tried to contact him on phone and then noticed the car parked outside. The Bengaluru rural police have taken up the case and begun investigation.
