Robbers gang busted, confess loot worth Rs 1 Cr

UDAIPUR: The police have busted a robbers gang and arrested three members who have confessed to have committed 21 robberies amounting to a loot of nearly Rs 1 crore, across the city in the last 11 months.
According to SP, Rajendra Prasad Goyal, the city police had been trying hard to crack cases of loot and robberies that had taken place in broad daylight in residential colonies for some months now.The officers were told to trace cases related to property and work out a plan for investigation, he said.
Acting on a tip off, a team led by circle inspector Chhagan Purohit of Hiran Magri police station raided a house in Sector 14 area and arrested Ratan and Gopal, both sons of Kuka Dangi of Lakadwas and one Dinesh son of Bherulal Mali of Bhinder. Neighbours who found the movement of these persons suspicious for some time had informed the police who kept an eye on them. During interrogation, the three men confessed to have committed robberies at 21 places across the city.
"These men roamed around the city and collected details of houses that were locked or the occupants were out of town. Later, they trespassed and fled with the looted assets. The largest amount involved in a single robbery had been Rs 25 lakh where the culprits took away gold ornaments and silver utensils from a house in sector 14 area last August," Chhagan Purohit informed.
These men are history-sheeters with 16 similar cases pending against Ratan while 12 and three respectively against Dinesh and Gopal Dangi. The culprits will be produced before the court on Wednesday and taken to remand so that the looted items could be recovered. The suspects were involved in robberies at places including sectors 9, 11, 14, Gokul Village, Savina, Titardi etc.
