Remand home pregnancy: Probe ordered

MUMBAI: A probe has been started into the case of pregnancy of an inmate at the state-run remand home in Ulhasnagar.
The divisional deputy commissioner along with a team of district-level officials of the Women and Child Development Department visited the remand home on Tuesday to investigate the matter. The woman was moved to Thane remand home on request after she alleged that the officials at Ulhasnagar were trying to force her into a medical termination of her pregnancy.
“Inquiry is initiated and action will be taken ,” said B B Hajari Deputy Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department. tnn
