The local court on Monday extended social worker and theatre artiste Zulfiqar Khan’s police remand by five days. During these five days, police will interrogate him about the source of income for his NGO Theatre Age and will also ascertain if he had clicked objectionable pictures of his students with his mobile phone.
The police told the court Zulfiqar might have circulated children’s obscene pictures and videos to others for which they needed to interrogate him. They claimed they were yet to recover his mobile phone.
“The case against Zulfiqar will be strengthened if videos are found in his mobile,” DSP Satish Kumar told Newsline.

Though the police sought seven-day custody, Civil Judge Dazy Banghar ordered five-day custodial interrogation of the accused. During his custody, the police will also take Zulfiqar to his native village, Sajjanpur, for the recovery of evidence against him.
Zulfiqar’s nephew Akhtiyar Khan is also under the police scanner on charges of criminal conspiracy. However, the police claimed they were yet to find evidence against him.
“More people could be involved in this case. Zulfiqar was not cooperating in the investigation,” Inspector Narinder Patial, Sector 11 SHO, told the court.
However, Zulfiqar’s counsel Gagan Aggarwal said, “Ever since police arrested Zulfiqar, they have not been able to find any concrete evidence against him.”
Zulfiqar was arrested from his office in Sector 24 on Saturday and booked under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, besides the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) at the Sector 11 police station.
