VCK stages demonstration

Demanding compensation of Rs. 50 lakh for the family of V. Gokulraj (22), a Dalit youth who was murdered last month, cadre of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi staged a demonstration near the Collectorate here on Monday.

Gokulraj’s mother Chitra and his elder brother V. Kalaiselvan participated in the protest. Speakers expressed dissatisfaction over the probe by the Namakkal police and said that only a CBI inquiry would bring out the truth.

They also demanded a government job for one of the family members and also a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh. As many as 200 cadre, including 15 women, participated in the protest.
