The Gulbarga Bar Association is likely to end its indefinite boycott of the district and subordinate courts in Kalaburagi district.
A decision to end the boycott is likely to be taken in the general body meeting of the Bar Association convened on Tuesday. The strike entered its 18th day on Monday.
KAT Bench
According to reports, a delegation of members of the Bar Association, led by Municipal Administration Minister Qamarul Islam and other elected representatives from the district, met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Monday and pleaded for the early establishment of the Bench of the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) in Kalaburagi. During the meeting, Chief Minister had reiterated that the establishment of the KAT was under the serious consideration of the State government and recalled the statement he (Chief Minister) made in the Assembly in this regard.
Mr. Siddaramaiah also told the delegation that a decision on the establishment of the bench of the KAT in Kalaburagi would be taken in the next Cabinet meeting. The delegation, which called on the Chief Minister, included Bar Association President Vidyarani Bhat. Others who accompanied the delegation included MLAs Dattatreya Patil Revoor, Umesh Jadhav and Ajay Singh.
According to reports, the Chief Minister made an appeal to the advocates to end the strike.
