An intimate work, an honest product of creativity – is how noted media person N. Madhavankutty described it. The release function of writer K.U Johny’s ‘Bhoomadhyarekhayile Veedu’ was an occasion for all those gathered to recollect some of the nostalgic memories associated with Wayanad.

The novel ‘Bhoomadhyarekhayile Veedu’ (a house on the equator) is a comeback for Mr. Johny into the world of literature after his ‘exile’ in the police department.

Johny who hails from a migrant family from Travancore that settled in Wayanad in the 1930s tries to recall the life after the settlement, especially in the time of the second generation of settlers and the politics of the 70s.

The loss of land to the Banasurasagar dam is a major theme in the novel, said K.J. Johny, who introduced the topic.
